A Defining Album in Oasis’ Evolution
Originally released under Big Brother Recordings Ltd., Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants marked a pivotal shift in Oasis’ musical direction. It was the first album to be released under their own label, following the sudden closure of Creation Records. The lead single, “Go Let It Out,” became the first material released by Big Brother in January 2000.
This album showcased a bold evolution in Oasis’ signature sound, with Noel Gallagher embracing a more experimental and psychedelic rock-inspired approach to production. The shift was evident in tracks like “Gas Panic!” and “Fuckin’ In The Bushes”, which introduced darker and more atmospheric elements compared to their earlier Britpop anthems.
Upon its release, Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants debuted at No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart, selling over 310,000 copies in its first week alone. The album later achieved double platinum certification in the UK and sold over 200,000 copies in the US.
Anniversary Edition and New Lyric Video
In celebration of this milestone, Oasis has also announced the release of a new lyric video for “Go Let It Out”, which originally debuted on February 7, 2000. The video will premiere on the band’s official YouTube channel at 4 PM GMT.
Fans can now pre-order the 25th anniversary edition of Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants, which features the original tracklist:
- Fuckin’ In the Bushes
- Go Let It Out
- Who Feels Love?
- Put Yer Money Where Yer Mouth Is
- Little James
- Gas Panic!
- Where Did It All Go Wrong?
- Sunday Morning Call
- I Can See A Liar
- Roll It Over
