Thom Yorke Hints at New Music Collaboration with Mark Pritchard: ‘Back In The Game’ Set for Release

Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke has sparked anticipation among fans by teasing a new project with Australian electronic producer Mark Pritchard. Titled Back In The Game, the track is rumored to be part of a larger collaborative album and is expected to be officially released on February 13, 2025.

Thom Yorke Hints at New Music Collaboration with Mark Pritchard

Yorke first introduced Back In The Game during his recent solo tour, performing it live at a concert in Christchurch, New Zealand, in October 2024. The performance quickly caught the attention of fans, leading to speculation about an upcoming full-length project between the two artists.

The speculation was further fueled when both Yorke and Pritchard posted cryptic teasers on their respective social media accounts. On February 7, Yorke shared an abstract, eerie video clip on Instagram featuring a loop of pulsating, horror-inspired music. Pritchard followed up by posting the same teaser, accompanied by the message: “BACK IN THE GAME. 13.02.25. SIGN UP FOR NEWS.” He also tagged Yorke, Warp Records, and visual artist Jonathan Zawada, hinting at a broader creative collaboration.

A History of Collaborations

Yorke and Pritchard have a longstanding musical relationship dating back to 2011, when Pritchard remixed Radiohead’s Bloom. Their most notable joint effort came in 2016 with Beautiful People, a track featured on Pritchard’s album Under The Sun. Given their past work together, expectations are high for what Back In The Game will bring.

If this new project turns out to be a full-length album, it would mark Yorke’s first major release since Cutouts, the latest album by his band The Smile. The group, which includes fellow Radiohead member Jonny Greenwood and drummer Tom Skinner from Sons of Kemet, released the album to critical acclaim. NME awarded it four stars, praising its experimental and playful approach.

Radiohead’s Future Remains Uncertain

Amid Yorke’s focus on side projects, questions about Radiohead’s future continue to arise. In a 2024 interview with Australian outlet Double J, Yorke addressed speculation about a potential band reunion, stating bluntly: “I am not aware of it and don’t really give a flying f**.”* While acknowledging fans’ curiosity, he emphasized that the band members are pursuing what feels right for them artistically.

Bassist Colin Greenwood previously discussed Radiohead’s summer 2024 reunion rehearsals in an interview with NME, sharing insights into their creative process. Meanwhile, Jonny Greenwood described the rehearsals as “fun and natural” but confirmed that there are “no plans” for any Radiohead-related projects in 2025, as each member remains focused on individual pursuits.

With Yorke now shifting his attention to Back In The Game, fans eagerly await further details about the track and its potential role in a larger body of work.
