A Deeply Personal Approach to Music
In a recent interview, Winter opened up about the creative process behind Heavy Metal, revealing that much of his inspiration stems from his childhood experiences. He also discussed the key differences between working solo and collaborating with his band, Geese.
“Well, some parts are easier and some parts are harder,” Winter explained. “With Geese, when you’re working on full songs with multiple people, they need to have a structure that everyone understands. But when I was working alone, I could throw all that out the window.”
Winter admitted that the process was challenging, as he often recorded songs without fully writing them first. “A lot of these songs sucked for a long time due to me not writing them before I recorded them,” he shared. “There was a lot of reverse-engineering from me just banging on a piano.”
Geese’s Recent Performances and Covers
While Winter continues to explore his solo career, Geese has remained active. During their annual Geesefest residency in New York City last December, the band performed covers of Television’s Marquee Moon and Green Day’s American Idiot, paying tribute to two of their major influences.
Winter’s solo tour promises to deliver an intimate yet dynamic experience for fans eager to witness his latest musical evolution.
