Ticket Sales and Festival Appearance

Massive Attack Announce Major Manchester Show as Part of 2025 Tour

Fans eager to attend can access pre-sale tickets starting at 10 AM on Wednesday, March 5, by signing up online. For those who miss the pre-sale, general ticket sales will open on Friday, March 7, at 10 AM.

The newly announced show comes just one day before Massive Attack’s headline performance at the LIDO Festival in Victoria Park, London, on June 6. Notably, their LIDO set will be 100% battery-powered, thanks to the group’s ongoing partnership with clean energy provider Ecotricity, reinforcing their commitment to reducing carbon emissions and air pollution.

Support acts for LIDO include AIR, Yasiin Bey & The Alchemist (as FORENSICS), and Tirzah, with additional performers expected to be announced soon.

Commitment to Sustainability

Massive Attack has long been vocal about climate change and sustainability within the music industry. Their Act 1.5 concert in Bristol last summer was the UK’s largest low-carbon gig and served as a model for sustainable live events.

Discussing the future of eco-friendly concerts, Del Naja previously shared with NME that the band is actively working with promoters to replicate the Bristol model across multiple cities, aiming for a more sustainable live music experience.

“We can’t give you details, but we’re now talking to promoters about taking everything that made Bristol work and moving it into other cities,” Del Naja explained. “There’s no point in doing one-off exemplars; we want it to move into these practical areas.”

No to Coachella, Yes to Billie Eilish Collaboration

Looking ahead to 2025, Massive Attack confirmed that they declined an offer to perform at Coachella, citing environmental concerns.

“We said no to Coachella for next year because, again, we’ve been there once, and once was enough,” Del Naja stated. “It’s in Palm Springs. It’s a golf resort built on a desert, run on a sprinkler system, using public water supplies. Mental. If you want to see something that’s the most ludicrous bit of human behavior – it’s right there.”

Despite turning down Coachella, the band is set to collaborate with Billie Eilish on her 2025 European tour, reinforcing their shared commitment to eco-conscious music production.

Tour Setbacks and the Future of Sustainable Live Music

In October 2024, Massive Attack faced a setback when they were forced to cancel their U.S. tour—their first in five years—due to unforeseen circumstances. However, the band remains committed to their sustainability mission, as evidenced by their recent Bristol event.

Reflecting on their Act 1.5 concert, NME noted:

“There have to be some first-movers who push the boundaries and bring everyone else along with them. Massive Attack and their event partners are the first ones to bring all of the pieces of the low-carbon puzzle together. This is what the live music of the future will need to look like everywhere in the end.”
